  • Die Aufnahme und der Status von Vitamin D sind in Irland gering, insbesondere bei älteren Erwachsenen, stationären Krankenhauspatienten und Bewohnern von Pflegeheimen.
  • Ein niedriger Vitamin D-Spiegel im Serum wurde mit einem erhöhten Risiko und einer erhöhten Schwere viraler Atemwegsinfektionen in Verbindung gebracht, einschließlich einer ambulant erworbenen Lungenentzündung.
  • Es gibt auch Hinweise darauf, dass eine Vitamin D-Supplementierung, die den Vitamin D-Spiegel im Serum über 50 nmol / l erhöht, dieses Risiko verbessern kann. Unter den vorgeschlagenen schützenden Wirkungen von Vitamin D befinden sich mehrere, die das Risiko einer Covid-19-Infektion verringern oder die immunologischen Folgen abschwächen können, die für seine fulminanten respiratorischen Wirkungen verantwortlich sind.

  • Angesichts der bevorstehenden Covid-19-Epidemie und des Fehlens eines Impfstoffs oder einer wirksamen antiviralen Arzneimitteltherapie zur Behandlung der Infizierten erfordern diese Ergebnisse die priorisierte Ergänzung aller stationären Krankenhauspatienten, Bewohner von Pflegeheimen und Wohngemeinschaften ältere Erwachsene mit Vitamin D in einer täglichen Mindestdosis von 20 Mikrogramm pro Tag (800E).
  • Es wird ferner empfohlen, die Supplementierung auf andere gefährdete Bevölkerungsgruppen auszurichten (z. B. auf Personen mit Diabetes mellitus oder eingeschränkter Immunfunktion, Personen mit dunklerer Haut, Vegetarier und Veganer, Personen mit Übergewicht oder Fettleibigkeit, Raucher und Beschäftigte im Gesundheitswesen) und letztendlich auf die Bevölkerung auszudehnen Rest der Bevölkerung
  • So kann man die schwerwiegenden Risiken für die öffentliche Gesundheit im Zusammenhang mit der Covid-19-Infektion mindern.
